Cecelia Ahern announces ‘PS, I Love You’ sequel, after 15 years
And now, 15 years later , Cecelia Ahern has announced a sequel to her bestselling novel which is expected to be out this year! Titled Postscript, the PS: I Love You sequel will be published by HarperCollins and will release on September 19, 2019.
Cecelia broke the news on her official Facebook page and her post read:
PS, I Love You is a story about a married couple, Holly and Gerry, living in Dublin. They are deeply in love but fight occasionally. But it’s only when Holly loses Gerry to brain tumour, that she realises how much she loved him. Deeply distraught by his sudden death, Holly withdraws herself to grief only to be informed by her mother about a package for her containing 10 letters. Written by Gerry, each letter ends with the line “P.S. I Love You”. The letters, dated one for each month, help Holly to slowly rediscover herself.
In Postscript, Cecelia tells Holly’s story– seven years after Gerry’s untimely death. ‘When Holly Kennedy is approached by a group calling themselves the PS, I Love You Club, her safe existence is turned on its head. Inspired by hearing about her late husband Gerry’s letters, the club wants Holly to help them with their own parting messages for their loved ones to discover after they’re gone. Holly is sure of one thing – no way is she being dragged back to the grief she has left behind. It has taken seven years to reinvent herself, and she’s ready to move on with her life. But Holly comes to realize that when you love someone, there’s always one more thing to say,’ reads the synopsis of the book.
While the sequel to her debut book is coming after 15 years, it’s noted that Cecelia wrote 15 books in the meantime. ‘Cecelia’s books have sold 25 million copies internationally, are published in over 40 countries, in 30 languages’ reads a statement on her official website.
